CHECK BACK SOON FOR DETAILS ON HOW YOU CAN BE INVOLVED IN 2012 EARTH DAY ACTIVITIES

The 2011 activities included:

4/16/11  Earth Day Celebration with Port Royal Farmer’s Market Opening Day

8:30am to 12:30pm, Heritage Naval Park, Port Royal.  Several environmental agencies set up booths with information and free giveaways along side local farmers selling their wares. 

4/23/11 Soft Shell Crab Festival. Noon-5pm, Paris Avenue, Port Royal, SC.  Enjoy an easy-going afternoon in downtown Port Royal. Visit the Earth Day booths and activities at the 9th Street corner. After learning about what you can do for Earth Day 2009, you can find plenty of food, fun, and entertainment!

 Beaufort County Recycling sponsored two household hazardous waste collections at drop off centers, north and south of the Broad River. For future recycling events, call the Beaufort County Recycling office at 470-6405.

Earth Day Cleanups. Join in a neighborhood or community cleanup:

Palmetto Pride cleanups will be conducted throughout the month, including the May River Cleanup. Go to

  Hunting Island State Park, Lagoon and Trails cleanup are held in the spring and fall.  Find out more at Friends of Hunting Island
